Kyle Black came yesterday from Chine House Veterinary Hospital, Leicester for Tarquin and Barrington’s fourteen week check up after their injuries. Tarquin’s scans showed get improvement in the healing rate of his Medial Oblique Sesmoidean ligament located near his fetlock joint and Barrington was lunged in front of Kyle, who was very happy with how they are both progressing, he said they were allowed to be turned out in small paddocks.
This had been a long time coming after 3 and a half months on restricted exercise, Barrington I really wasn’t worried about, as he is normally very good out in the field any way. Tarquin on the other hand I was dreading when he is in full training and out in the field every day he still has to wear boots all round, over reach boots and goes out to the field in a chifney. Once the chifney has be undo he is off charging down the field towards his rolling spot a good roll, up and leaping, rearing and bucking around the field you would never believe he was 12 years old he acts like a 4 year old. So you can see why I have not been looking forward to this day.
With the boys doped up (Tarquin on very strong meds) were turned out. They behaved really well, both had a good roll, a buck and a leap when the sedation was starting to wear off, there was the odd times when I had to look away due to Tarquin’s antics but it was so nice to see them both back out in the paddocks. I would never wish any injuries on any horse but throughout this whole rehabilitation process I am glad they have had each other.
