Today we have some very good news! Tarquin is now home!

The vets are very happy with the progress he has been making and were happy to discharge him yesterday.

Tarquin’s foot has been bandaged using a Robert Jones bandage which gives overall support, this allowed him to weight bear on the bad foot and rest the good leg only 12 hours after injury. We are ecstatic to welcome Tarquin back and i have many people to thank for their support during this difficult time.

Firstly The Stars and Diamonds syndicate members, thank you for coming to Cheltenham and i hope you had an enjoyable evening. I am sorry regarding the outcome but at least Tarquin lives on to fight another day. I will keep you up to date with his progress going forward.

I would also like to say a big thank you to the two veterinary teams who have looked after Tarquin so well.  Firstly Cheltenham Racecourse Vets who were brilliant to attend so quickly, the screens were up and we knew he was in the best of hands  – you really are a credit to the racecourse, and secondly,  B and W Equine Hospital who have looked after Tarquin so well.

I would also like to say thank you to David Annett from DMA horse transport (our regular transporter). As soon as Tarquin saw him he whinnied as he knew he was coming home.

Tarquin is now in his stable and has been treated to a newly lined rubber matting floor (to avoid him slipping and making the injury worse). After telling everybody that he was home, he was so excited to be back that he didn’t know what to do first: eat his hay, have a drink, look out of his window, but having a good roll was first on his list.

I will continue to keep you updated with his progress.

Many Thanks,

Katie B. Frisby
